Importing from Tricount

Import members, expenses, and splits from a Tricount export file or a supported community extractor spreadsheet.

01

Moving a group from Tricount

TmCount can import common Tricount export formats. Import the file into a group, review the members and expenses, then continue adding new entries in TmCount.

Importing makes a copy. It doesn’t sync future changes with Tricount.

02

Supported files

TmCount can read CSV exports from older Tricount versions. If your version doesn’t offer an export, a community extractor can use your Tricount registry ID to produce an Excel workbook that TmCount can import.

The workbook needs members, entries, and allocations. It can include unequal shares, expenses, income, and transfers. If an entry is missing after import, add it in TmCount. Importing the same file again can create duplicates.

03

Importing the file

Open the destination group, choose Import, and select the file. TmCount creates placeholders for members who don’t have an account yet.

Check the member list, a few larger expenses, and the balances after importing. You can link a placeholder to an account when that person joins.

04

Exporting a group

Premium and partner plans can export a group to an Excel file using the same extractor-style layout. Use it for a backup or to move the data to another group. Import is available on the Free plan; export requires a paid plan.

When you’ve finished with the imported group, you can archive it and keep its history.
